I have really bad anxiety and i honestly think right now , the only thing to help is medication. What are specific ways of obtaining a script. What measures do you have to take , etc

Anxiety is very common. The source of it is psychological. This psychological problem leads to a chemical imbalance in the brain which we experience as anxiety. DO NOT take medication. They are designed to bypasses the psychological source of the problem and directly treat the chemical imbalance. Because they don’t treat the true cause, you will become dependent on the meds and will always have to take them. Anxiety meds also have serious side affects. These inlclude anixety and depression (ironic huh?) and suicidal thoughts. You have to defeat your anxiety on your own, the shortcut (medicine) won’t work in the long run. Try yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises. Relaxtion is key, you have to oxygenate your brain and soothe your mind.
Its gonna take time, but its better than allowing medication to further screw up your brain’s chemistry.

You will have to discuss your problem with a health professional (doctor or psychiatrist) to obtain a prescription for an appropriate medication. However, there are a number of ways to address anxiety without medication. Try deep breathing and mild exercise (walking).

Above all, do not dismiss your anxiety. It is real and should be addressed by a health care professional.


First, you need to see a counselor. Only a counselor can determine the best method to control your anxiety. Generally, counselors will attempt cognitive behavioral therapy first…basically teach you how to stop the anxiety. If that isn’t effective enough, THEN medication will be looked into. Medication should be your last resort if you haven’t seen a counselor.
