Overcoming anxiety 14 – My plan of action

…Continued from #13. In these next two videos I explain the many things I have started doing to overcome my anxiety and panic, in a very aggressive and serious plan. I discuss the importance of sleep and my trial of 5-HTP, then professional therapy I started and vitamin and mineral supplements. Yes, and kept a journal for quite some time. I never did come up with any food intolerances. I kinda wish that’s all it was though! LOL

Also, have you looked into food intolerances?

Look up “water cure” on here. Quite amazing for lots of things.

Look up Robert Smiths Videos on YouTube, regarding EFT,”emotional freedom technique”. Watch all the videos, and do what he says. This will really help you. Also, look up Gary Craig, and use his technique, it’s the best. :) Arum

Have not tried that yet.

Have you tried “Emotional Freedom Technique”? EFT. It will really help you, and usually anyone else.

Thank you! :) I couldn’t agree more.

Don’t listen to him. Melatonin is great stuff.

don’t take melatonin man. Ive tried that crap and it makes you feel like shit. Quit that shit, youre not supposed to use it unless you travel and have jet lag.

I drink (w/in moderation), no weed.

do you drink or smoke weed?

Well 5HTP eventually metabolizes into melatonin already, so you may not need melatonin by itself. You could try the melatonin and see if it helps your sleep more, but it will say on the melatonin bottle not to take it if you’re taking supplements containing Valerian or 5HTP or any medications. Melatonin does nothing for anxiety, only the sleep part of it. See, the 5HTP metabolizes into Serotonin, which helps with the anxiety and then the Serotonin converts to Melatonin, helping with the sleep.

Thank you for this video, I just wanted to say that I take 5HTP and it works wonders… I unlike what you read, did not feel the positive effects until about a week into taking it. Since then my anxiety has dropped significantly, and helps me to sleep which has been a big problem for me. Only thing is, they state not to take 5HTP for long stretches as there are limited studies of the long tern effects, if any and so I wanted to know if this ‘Melatonin’ you mentioned would be a better alternative

Well thank you. :) I have heard wonderful things about 5-HTP. If I hit a plateau in my progress, I will definitely try it again, but perhaps another brand next time. You are living proof that it really can work. There’s also Rhodiola Rosea herb and Ashwaghanda herb that supposedly helps too. But again, if I plateau or don’t progress fast enough, I’m inclined to try those too. I don’t know if you can take 5-HTP with those herbs though.

That’s true. Better to introduce things individually and gradually after other “therapies” are established. That way it’s easier to notice any difference in mood or behavior. I think my depression was/still kinda is worse than yours (from what I gather anyway – I watched all of your videos) so that’s why i’m praising the 5-HTP mood enhancer.

Keep posting videos, please…these are the best videos i’ve found on anxiety so far!

You know, actually, I’m glad you brought this up. I stopped taking it soon after I started because I didn’t notice any effect on me. It might have been the brand. And I do need to mention it in a future video. But I’m making good progress without any natural mood enhancers. I guess I like to know what’s helping me. If I take too many things, I won’t really know what’s helping and what’s useless. Because I do a lot of things to help me progress. Vitamins, exercise, sunlight, exposure therapy

By the way, I take “Natrol 5-HTP”. I also take the B-Complex and Fish Oil supplements.

I really enjoy hearing you talk, you have a lot of knowledge about this and your helping motivate me. Thanks again…

Then I started taking 100 mg per day (once in the morning and once at night.) Hardly no headaches and I felt a steady improvement. I’m now taking 150 mg per day (2 in the morning, 1 at night) – for the past few days. I’ve already noticed that my mood has been a lot better the past few days. Anxiety is still there but my sleep is still great! So I dunno, maybe you just need to give it longer. I’ve tried at least 5 different antidepressants and am really loving this natural alternative.

I agree, sleep is key. Haven’t tried melatonin but I am taking 5-HTP which is really helping! It used to be impossible for me to fall asleep at a decent time. Now I can fall asleep easily. I’ve also been depressed for years and am starting to notice my mood stabilizing and I can actually feel a natural happy feeling which is wonderful for me.
How many mgs did you start with? I started at 50 mg once a day for 2 weeks. During that time I had some headaches but that was the only side effect.
