Q&A: What are some ways that a person can overcome anxiety?

overcome anxiety

What are some ways that a person can overcome anxiety?
My best friend suffers from really bad anxiety. I think it stops her from being able to achieve things in life. What can she do to overcome it? What can I do to help?

She already knows that it’s the way that she thinks that is causing her anxiety, but she says no matter what she can’t help it.

Has she seem her doc about this? If not this is an option. Might try to see what causes this by asking her. Another way to help get rid of anxiety is to do something that does not create anxiety for her. Hanging out with friends that she feels comfortable with. Doing something like riding a bike, skating. working out, cooking, listening to music, watching a movie, or doing something else she like doing can also help

I think it is great that you care for your Friend getting her to understand what make it come o will help her no end. getting her to take it one day at a time and build on her self esteem and Conference. tell her to talk about it and find something out of the bad, a positive to every negative eg worried about going out in case there is a crowd, walking in a park and feeling the fresh air and the sun feeling tranquil find her a hobbies that helps her relax, but the best thing is to tell her she is not alone and every body had anxieties on time or another.

A good therapist can be of great assistance. The use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy has proved effective. Also, anxiety has a way of getting bigger rather than smaller unless the person faces that they must change. She can’t help it right now, but people can teach her to stop the “stinking thinking.” It’s very important to get help, and no matter how much we care about someone there is little we can do beyond support them in professional assistance. It’s not as easy as “just cut it out.” No one makes a choice to be this way, it’s so much more than that and can lead to severe depression.

You are defintly a good friend! I wish i had you as a friend!

Here are some tips on how to overcome anxiety panic attacks:

A well balanced diet to overcome anxiety attacks. The food that you eat has direct effects on your mind and body. You have to take into consideration the effect of diet on your level of anxiety. There are certain foods that serve as trigger and make you more nervous and anxious. And there are foods that have calming effects and make you strong and stable. Acidic foods like alcohol, sugar, salt, proteins and dairy products can increase your level of anxiety while alkaline foods like fruits and vegetables makes you more stable and eliminate anxiety. If you are in control of your diet and your body you can also control your mind and emotions. Diet can help you overcome anxiety panic attacks.

Regular exercise. Getting a regular exercise makes your body stronger and function at its best. Regular exercise can decrease your stress level and muscle tension which can help you overcome anxiety panic attacks. Along with regular exercise, breathing exercise makes you more stable, relax and less anxious.

Distract yourself to overcome anxiety. If you are getting anxious, distracting yourself can help you divert your focus to the things around you and makes you more at ease and forget your anxiety. You can distract yourself from frightening thoughts by watching television or by repeating calming phrases and re-assuring yourself that there is nothing to be afraid of and you will feel better.

Positive thinking. Train yourself to think positively to overcome anxiety attacks. Do not give in to your negative thoughts. Anxious thoughts will trigger your disorder leading to panic attacks. In every situation, whether speaking in public or doing an important thing at work or in school, think positively that you can survive it all. Be rational with your thinking and do not think negatively.

Get help from the experts. If your friend find it hard to overcome anxiety , there are experts who can help you. There are people trained to help you manage and deal with anxiety panic attacks. I tried a digital e-book that helped me heaps. It gave me the tools and techniques to deal and treat anxiety,

Panic Away is an online anxiety and anxiety attack treatment program created by ex-anxiety and panic sufferer, Barry Joe McDonagh. Panic Away has a long history record of being one of the most successful treatment programs available, with over 40,000 successful recoveries. In my time of struggle I had tried many different treatment programs and none of them did anything for me. I turned to Panic Away as a last resort type of thing and am here to give you my results and my thoughts on the program itself.

Best of luck and I hope your friend gets help =D

Hi i’ve had major anxiety issues myself: i wasn’t able to do tests, talk to people etc.
I have done many exercises and most of them didn’t help me. this could be different for your friend though. My advice is to her is that she need to fear her fears, and push her bounderies (not illegal or any dangerous stuff) Like public speaking and stuff.

She can also try some of the tips on this site http://getoveranxiety.blogspot.com
